Solar Panel Rent-to-Own in the Philippines: How It Works
Most people think solar means two choices: pay the full cost upfront, or take out a loan to cover it. There's a third option that a lot of homeowners don't know about yet. Rent-to-own financing lets you get a solar system installed without a large upfront payment, and the system becomes fully yours once the term is complete.
If you've been searching for a solar panel installment plan or a solar loan in the Philippines, here's what rent-to-own actually looks like, plainly explained.
What Is Rent-to-Own Solar Financing
Rent-to-own works differently from a bank loan. Instead of borrowing money to buy the system yourself, you enter into an agreement directly with the solar provider. The provider installs the system on your property, and you make regular payments over an agreed term. Once that term ends, the system is yours.
It's built for homeowners who want a working solar system now, without needing to qualify for a conventional loan or set aside a large lump sum first.
What It Costs
Pricing is fixed and transparent for the length of your term. For our most common system size, a 5 kWp grid-tied setup, rent-to-own starts as low as ₱7,736 per month over 60 months, with no hidden fees. Larger system sizes and shorter terms are also available, and your exact rate depends on the system size that fits your home. You can see the full range on our rent-to-own plans page.
How the Process Works
Getting started takes four steps, usually completed in as few as seven days:
- Customized quote. It starts with a free solar consultation, where a member of our team goes over your electricity usage and answers your questions. From there we do a site assessment of your roof space, orientation, and electrical setup, then prepare a proposal for the system that fits your home.
- Same-day credit assessment. Your eligibility for the agreement is evaluated, often on the same day.
- System design and layout. Once approved, your system is designed to fit your roof and household needs.
- Installation and energization. The system is installed and switched on, ready to use.
The system becomes fully yours once the agreed term is complete.
What You'll Need to Qualify
Eligibility depends on a few factors. You'll need proof of property ownership, or authorization to install on the property, a valid government ID, and your latest electricity bill, front and back. Other standard documentation may apply, similar to other financing agreements. You'll get the specifics for your home after the site assessment, from someone who has seen your roof.
Product Standards Stay the Same
A rent-to-own system isn't a lesser version of a standard purchase. It follows the same product standards as any Solviva installation, including manufacturer warranty coverage on the panels and inverter, and on the battery if you choose a hybrid system.
We take the same approach to safety equipment. A rapid shutdown device, a safety feature required under the Philippine Electrical Code, can be configured as part of your system design. Your solar expert can explain further the specifics for your home.
Common Questions About Solar Financing in the Philippines
Is rent-to-own the same as a bank loan? No. A bank loan means borrowing funds and buying the system yourself. Rent-to-own is an agreement directly with us, with ownership transferring to you once the term ends.
Can I switch to outright ownership early? That depends on the terms of your specific agreement. A member of our team can look at your payment options should you consider this alternative.
Does financing affect the system's warranty? No. Warranty terms are tied to the equipment itself, not how you financed it.
